AI-L3POE-2TX804-250 BT: AirCore 12-Port L3 and AI Management 2.5GE PoE++ Switch, including 4*10G SFP+

Overview
Overview
One box that powers your devices, connects them, and manages the lot.
The AI-L3POE-2TX804-250 BT is an AirLive L3 250W Managed Multi Giga PoE++ Switch with 10G uplink for small and medium business, branch, school and factory sites. It gives you 12 ports — 8 × 2.5G RJ-45 PoE++ plus 4 × 10G SFP+ — so access points, cameras, NVRs and servers each run at full speed instead of sharing one crowded pipe. Every copper port also carries power, so cameras, access points and IP phones need nothing but the network cable: 250W of PoE budget across the switch. Because it routes as well as switches, traffic between VLANs stays inside the box instead of going out to the router and back — quicker, and you can buy a smaller router. Set it up on site through the web interface, then run it — and every other AirLive device on that site — from AirLive AirCore, free.

Choose this model if…

  • A small site needs 90W PoE and multi-gig, not a 24-port chassis.
  • You have four 10G paths to feed.
  • You want routing without adding a router.
Why Layer 3 on AI-L3POE-2TX804-250 BT
  • A cloud switch on the AirLive AirCore AI platform. Around 300 functions run for you, so the platform works like an SI’s virtual engineer, 24/7.
  • It is a Layer 3 switch. Traffic between VLANs stays inside the box instead of going out to the router and back, so the whole network system performs dramatically better.
  • PoE is built in. Data and power travel on the same cable — less time, less cabling and less electrical work. 250 W PoE power budget on this model.
  • 2.5 Gigabit to the desk with 4×10G SFP+ uplinks. Over Cat.6A/7 copper or fibre.

The full Layer 3 detail — IGMP multicast, OSPF routing, DHCP snooping, VLAN IP routing interfaces, and how Layer 2 compares with Layer 3 — is in the Applications section of this page.

AirLive AirCore AI Support
AirLive AirCore AI Support
AirCore is a second pair of eyes on your network. It watches the AI-L3POE-2TX804-250 BT, spots the faults you would otherwise find out about from a phone call, and tells you where the problem is rather than that there is one. Ports, PoE, VLANs, LAG, STP, LLDP — all of it from one screen, for every AirLive switch you own, from anywhere. AirCore is written by AirLive and comes free with the hardware for distributors and system integrators, and it manages AirLive wireless, IP cameras and telecom gear from the same place.
802.3BT High Power PoE
802.3BT High Power PoE
90W on every port, 250W in total
Every PoE port on the AI-L3POE-2TX804-250 BT delivers up to 90W under 802.3bt — enough for pan-tilt-zoom cameras with heaters, multi-radio access points and powered displays, not just the easy devices. Power comes from a shared 250W budget, so nothing is stranded on a port that never uses it.
10G Performance and Scalability
10G Performance and Scalability
120Gbps of switching, 89.28Mpps forwarded
Headroom is what you notice on the bad days, not the good ones. The AI-L3POE-2TX804-250 BT moves 89.28Mpps across a 120Gbps fabric, which means the backup that runs at lunchtime and the camera wall that never stops both fit without anyone queueing. Add people, add cameras, add storage traffic later — the switch was sized for it.

The number in an AirLive PoE model name is the switch’s total power, not its PoE budget. The PoE budget is the part of that power actually available to the connected devices.

Office & enterprise

Reception, meeting rooms, the open-plan floor and the comms cupboard on one switch. Access points go up in the ceiling, and each department sits in its own VLAN so finance traffic never lands on the guest network.

  • Wi-Fi 6 / Wi-Fi 7 access points
  • VoIP desk phones, PCs, printers
  • Door access, intercom, lobby displays
  • Uplink to the firewall or router

School & campus

Classrooms, labs, the hall and the admin block — and a timetable that puts several hundred devices online at exactly the same minute.

  • Ceiling access points in every classroom
  • Interactive panels and lab PCs
  • Corridor and playground CCTV
  • 10G run back to the server room

Factory & warehouse

Production lines, handheld scanners and machine-vision cameras, plus the office at the front. Long cable runs, high ceilings, and no electrician on call for aisle 12.

  • Machine-vision and CCTV cameras
  • Barcode and RFID readers
  • Industrial access points
  • PLC, SCADA and line controllers

Server & data room

Where the NAS, the hypervisor hosts, the backup target and the site uplink all meet — the one place where a slow port is felt by everybody at once.

  • NAS and backup appliances
  • Virtualisation and application hosts
  • NVR / video recording storage
  • 10G links down to the floor switches

Why this model
Every copper port on the AI-L3POE-2TX804-250 BT carries power as well as data — 250W of PoE budget across the switch, so cameras, access points and phones need nothing but the network cable. Traffic between VLANs is routed inside the switch, so the router only has to reach the internet. Ten-gigabit uplinks keep the link back to the core clear, and the whole site is visible in AirLive AirCore, free with the product.

Once a network passes a certain size, sending every conversation between departments out to the router and back becomes the thing that slows everyone down. The AI-L3POE-2TX804-250 BT routes that traffic itself, in hardware, at switching speed — so finance talking to engineering never leaves the switch. It is the usual answer in campuses, factories, hospitals and offices that have grown past one flat network, and it takes load off a router that was never meant to carry it.
Video is the traffic that punishes a careless network. The AI-L3POE-2TX804-250 BT understands IGMP v1/v2/v3 and sends each stream only to the ports that asked for it, instead of pushing it at everyone and hoping. Multicast VLAN Registration, sender and receiver control, and rogue-source detection keep IPTV, digital signage and camera feeds where they belong.
OSPF is what keeps a network running on the day a link fails. Every router and switch in the domain shares the same map, and when something breaks they all work out the new best path together — no one has to log in and edit a route by hand at two in the morning. The AI-L3POE-2TX804-250 BT speaks OSPF as a full participant, so it converges with the routers you already have rather than sitting outside the conversation.
Someone plugs in a home router the wrong way round and half the office loses its IP address. The AI-L3POE-2TX804-250 BT knows which ports are allowed to hand out addresses and quietly ignores the rest — the failure simply does not happen.
Each VLAN on the AI-L3POE-2TX804-250 BT can have its own IP interface, which is what lets the switch route between them without help. Create the VLAN, give the interface an address, and the switch handles the traffic between that network and the rest — one device doing the job that used to need two.
A Layer 2 switch moves frames between ports and knows nothing about IP. A Layer 3 switch does that too, and routes between networks as well — it keeps both a MAC table and a routing table, and handles traffic inside a VLAN and between VLANs in the same box. There is a middle category, Layer 2+, that does static routes but not dynamic ones. The AI-L3POE-2TX804-250 BT is a full Layer 3 switch: static routing, OSPF and RIP, policy-based routing, all of it.

One cable, power included
Cameras, access points and phones run on the network cable alone — 250W across the switch.

Routes at the edge
Inter-VLAN traffic stays inside the switch, so the router only reaches the internet.
