The Airlive MiniOLT-2.5GPON represents a smarter path to all-optical networks by specifically addressing the critical hurdles of traditional fiber migration. Conventional network upgrades often demand a high initial investment in large, chassis-based OLT equipment and suffer from complex integration with existing data networks. The MiniOLT is designed to solve these upgrade problems, offering a cost-effective, adaptable, and modular alternative that ensures a smooth transition to the all-optical era.

At the heart of this innovation is a two-part system: the GPON OLT Stick and the Fiber Media Converter. The OLT Stick is a hot-swappable SFP+ module that contains the GPON MAC function, serving as the core engine driving the network. When paired with the Media Converter—which provides the physical housing and DC 5V power—it enables plug-and-play integration with any standard network switch.

This solution delivers high-performance throughput to meet modern demands, offering 2.488Gbps downstream and 1.244Gbps upstream speeds. A single MiniOLT can support up to 32 ONU terminals over a transmission distance of 8km, making it an ideal solution for small apartment buildings (MDUs), boutique hotels, and single-family homes. 

Furthermore, the system is engineered for efficiency and reliability, with the full unit consuming less than 3W of power. The OLT Stick is particularly robust, featuring an industrial shell temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. Maintenance is simplified through modular upgrades that allow for precise port configuration and a hot-swappable function that ensures zero-downtime during troubleshooting. With essential PON features like automated ONU registration and batch firmware upgrades, the MiniOLT provides the granular control and visibility needed to operate with absolute confidence.

The MiniOLT-2.5GPON can also be plugged directly into the SFP port of a network switch. A connected computer in the same network can then run the control software to setup the OLT. This solution makes it great for saving rack space and makes it so that expending your PON can be done very quickly. The AirLive MiniOLT-2.5GPON also comes with a media converter, this can be used when a switch does not have a fiber port or in case the fiber port of the switch is not supported be the MiniOLT PON module.
